Working for Stable Taxes, Responsible Spending, and Safe, Healthy, Connected Communities.

As a healthcare professional with more than 20 years experience, and as a parent, community advocate and volunteer, I understand the importance of compassion, connection, belonging and building strong relationships.
Langford is where my family calls home. I am inspired by the pride, care and generosity of the people who make this such a special place to live. I believe strong communities are built by listening, working together and making thoughtful decisions that reflect the needs of all residents.

Serving our community means respecting those who helped build it.
I was proud to support the successful effort to honour longtime community leader Winnie Sifert through the dedication of a neighbourhood park. That experience reinforced my belief that community voices matter and that respectful collaboration leads to positive results.

Healthy communities are built on trust, communication and partnerships.
For the past four years, I have attended Langford council and committee meetings, advocating for stable taxation, responsible spending and practical cost-effective solutions to key priorities and issues identified by Langford residents.
As your city councillor, I will continue working with residents, neighbouring municipalities, Sooke school district (SD62), community organizations and local businesses to build a stronger Langford.

Working for a better Langford. Leading by listening.

Transparent decision-making, stable taxation, responsible planning and spending.
Beginning in 2023, taxes increased by 12%, compounding to 57% over four years. This has been the highest increase in the history of Langford, and was not something new or existing home owners budgeted for amidst increasing cost of living and economic uncertainty.
Major projects and expenditures such as purchasing an aquatic centre or a mobile home park (displacing residents for park land) should require public consultation. Budget planning and expenditures should also reflect the priorities and economic reality of our residents and business owners.
I will ensure property tax rates remain stable, that your tax dollars are invested wisely and that expenditures reflect the day-to-day economic reality of our community.

Safe communities, parks and neighbourhoods via adequate resources, services and facilities.
I have heard from many residents and business owners who are concerned about the safety of our neighbourhoods, parks, trails public spaces and streets. Families, youth, seniors and business owners deserve to feel safe. Those providing these services also deserve adequate funding and support.
Reducing policing resources and not prioritizing much needed facilities and programs for our police force has negatively impacted our community in many ways.
All residents and business owners deserve to feel safe in their homes, neighbourhoods and community.
I will ensure police, fire and bylaw officers are appropriately funded and have access to the resources and facilities they require to provide proactive and responsive services and programs.

Practical, accessible and affordable housing options for families, seniors and renters.
Affordable housing is one of many reasons residents continue to choose Langford as a place to call home. However, significant and unexpected increases in taxes combined with increased cost of development and services is not sustainable.
I am committed to ensuring housing in Langford remains affordable and that development is not unnecessarily delayed or impeded. Planning and decision-making must also reflect the diverse needs of our community today and tomorrow.
New developments should include ownership and/or rental options that are accessible, affordable and offer adjacent services and infrastructure that promote community building, health and well-being.

Investing in infrastructure and strategic partnerships to improve traffic flow & get Langford moving.
Traffic and transportation is an issue I have heard about from many residents. Major investments and planning should consider the needs of all residents and must be accessible, affordable and reliable.
Planning for the future should be guided by residents and stakeholders that understand and have a vested interest in improving transportation services and safety within Langford and across the broader Westshore region.
I will continue to advocate for solutions that reflect the reality of our growing and diverse community, and will ensure that planning and decision-making represents the needs of all residents.
Bob Beckett, Former Langford Fire Chief and SD62 Trustee

Healthy communities begin with healthy people.
With more than 20 years experience as a healthcare professional, I understand the importance of accessible healthcare, recreation and community services.
I will support practical solutions that improve access to healthcare, affordable housing and recreation services for seniors, families and youth while ensuring all residents have a voice in planning for our growing community.

Good governance begins with transparency.
For the past four years, I have attended council and committee meetings, advocating for responsible spending, transparent decision-making and stable taxation that reflects the realities facing Langford residents.
As your councillor, I will support responsible financial planning, transparent decision-making and meaningful public engagement. Major capital projects and spending should include fulsome community consultation, and long-term financial planning before decisions are made.

Your ideas, knowledge and experience matter. As Langford continues to grow and change, it is important that decisions represent ALL residents.
